Small boils may settle with local care and medicines. Larger abscesses may need drainage at an appropriate centre, so Dr. Maharania refers promptly when that is needed. Recurrent boils require checking hygiene, friction, shaving, bacterial carriage and diabetes risk when appropriate. Squeezing can worsen spread and scarring.
Size, pain, fever and surrounding redness decide urgency.
Some collections need drainage at an appropriate centre; others do not. This is decided clinically.
Repeated boils need cause review, not just repeated antibiotics.
